Maltese triathlete James Camilleri has achieved an impressive third-place finish at the demanding Double Ironman Ultra Triathlon held in Bad Radkersburg, Austria.
The race pushed athletes to their limits, with a gruelling 7.6km swim, followed by a 360km cycle, and capped off with an 84.4km run. To make matters tougher, competitors faced 11 hours of relentless rain, testing not only their endurance but also their mental strength.
James Camilleri credited his success to resilience and the constant encouragement from his supporters, including Therese Genovese and Philip Cachia. He also praised fellow Maltese athlete Silvio Sciberras, who proudly completed his very first Double Ironman.
Expressing gratitude, the Maltese athlete thanked his coach Fabio Spiteri for the personalised training and guidance that prepared him for the event. He also acknowledged the support of his family and friends, who stood by him throughout his journey.
In a heartfelt message after the race, he wrote on social media:‘I am super happy to be able to put the Maltese flag on the podium. It gives me more motivation to keep on going! Forza Malta.’
Congratulations, James!
