Despite challenging conditions both on land and underwater, the Żibel community kicked off 2026 with an inspiring display of determination and teamwork during their first clean-up of the year, held in the beautiful harbour city of Senglea.

Strong winds and less-than-ideal visibility didn’t stop volunteers from showing up in force and getting the job done. Rain or shine, the Żibel team shows up!

On Saturday morning, 85 dedicated volunteers came together with a shared mission: to protect Malta’s marine and coastal environment. Thanks to their hard work and collective effort, an impressive total of 1,351.29 kilograms of marine debris and land litter was removed from the area in just a few hours.

Among the more eye-opening results was a striking fun fact: 1,991 glass bottles were recovered during the clean-up!

This successful Senglea clean-up sets a strong tone for the year ahead. Well done, Żibel!
