Well done! Ernest Cassar is St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation Employee of the Year
Behind the grandeur of the St John's Co-Cathedral is a dedicated team quietly keeping everything ticking

We all know about St John’s Co-Cathedral, but behind its grandeur lies a dedicated team quietly keeping everything ticking.

And today, the Co-Cathedral shone a spotlight on one of these people, naming Ernest Cassar as its Employee of the Year for 2025.

As a member of the maintenance team, Mr Cassar plays a vital role in maintaining the Co-Cathedral’s heritage, all while serving as a supportive colleague who his team can rely on.

“Much of the work carried out by our maintenance team happens quietly behind the scenes, often before the Co-Cathedral opens to the public or after hours,” said Ian Camilleri, Chief Operations Officer.

“Yet their contribution is just as vital as any other role within the St John’s Co-Cathedral complex,”

“Ernest has earned the trust and respect of his colleagues in a remarkably short time. He is hardworking and loyal, always ready to lend a hand or offer sound advice whenever needed.”

Mr Cassar’s colleagues Jurgen Camilleri and Mauro Debono praised him as a skilled worker in welding, woodwork and organisation, who is always ready to lend a helping hand to his team.

John Taylor, the team foreman, added that Mr Cassar doesn’t just focus on his own duties but looks out for the whole team, always ready to step in, share his skills, or help solve problems on the spot.

Well done Ernest!
