Maltese sailing talent shone brightly at the ILCA Balatonfüred Europa Cup in Hungary, where Birżebbuġa Sailing Club athletes achieved remarkable results against some of Europe’s strongest competitors.

Young sailor Isaac Azzopardi delivered an outstanding performance, securing silver in the Under-16 division and bronze overall in the ILCA 4 category. Meanwhile, Emily Fenech claimed silver among female sailors in the same class, confirming her growing reputation on the international stage.

Both athletes began their sailing careers in the Optimist class, a testament to the Club’s robust youth training programmes.

The sailors were supported by Coach and Commodore Mario Aquilina, himself a two-time Olympian, alongside Team Leader Jason Spiteri. Teammates Jacob Azzopardi, Krista Spiteri, and Lacey Aquilina also gave strong showings, underlining the depth of emerging Maltese sailing talent.

Well done to all competitors!
