Wednesday 5th August: Malta records 20 new cases, not including yesterday evening's 16 migrant cases
Authorities have released the official figures.

According to the figures published by the Health Authority’s Facebook page, Sahha, Malta has registered 20 new cases of COVID-19 after 1,839 swabs were done in the past 24 hours.

The post also noted that, “5 of today's cases form part of the Paceville cluster, 4 cases are related to previously known case, while the rest are sporadic. The majority of sporadic cases did not have contact with people while symptomatic.”

The islands have registerd two more recoveries, bringing the total recovery tally to 668 and the number of active cases to 249. Since the outbreak, Malta has recorded 926 cases and has performed 134,944 swabs.

The authorities also shared, "The active cases include 16 positive cases reported yesterday, which include 3 cases from teh 78 immigrants who disembarked in Malta on Tuesday and 13 immigrants from previous disembarkations."
