We’re impressed!

We’re always a little excited when we come across some kind of rare footage from way back when. This time, we’ve discovered footage from TVM Archives posted by the Facebook page Filmed in Malta, showing behind the scenes footage of Midnight Express in 1978.

The behind the scenes footage is all in black-and-white film, and shows different aspects of filming a movie, including director’s notes, props, film producers, and even old equipment. We’re definitely in awe of this incredible footage.

The film was shot at the grand Fort St Elmo in Valletta by Sir Alan Parker, a renowned English filmmaker. It is largely set in Turkey but was film almost entirely at the fort (particularly the lower parts) after permission to film in Istabul was denied. What was Turkey’s loss, was our rock’s gain!
