Watch out! Malta seeing spike in Yellow Longhorn Beetle cases, expert warns
The Exterminator explains why it’s time to stay alert!

Arnold Sciberras, the local pest expert better known as The Exterminator, is sounding the alarm over a growing pest problem across the islands – the Yellow Longhorn Beetle.

This wood-boring insect (Chlorophorus glabromaculatus) has long been part of Malta’s natural fauna, but in recent weeks its numbers have risen sharply, with The Exterminator’s team responding to a noticeable surge in call-outs.

The beetle is best known for infesting timber, wooden structures, and even furniture, making it a potential headache for both homeowners and businesses. While it’s not a new arrival to Malta, spikes like this one can quickly become destructive if not handled properly.

‘When choosing your wood and carpenters, stay alert,’ Sciberras advises. ‘Taking precautions now will help you avoid serious problems down the line.’

The Exterminator encourages anyone who suspects a Yellow Longhorn Beetle infestation to act quickly before damage spreads. For more information or professional help, you can reach The Exterminator on 21436820 / 99887950 or visit exterminatormalta.com.
