If you’re not yet sure what to do with your Valentine’s Day in Malta… look no further love birds: the Archaeology Museum is about to become your (admittedly unlikely) destination for romance.
Promising stunning musical performances in unbeatable historic surroundings (the Museum boasts items dating back to prehistory), the venue will host Unforgettable – a concert featuring well-known tenor Nico Darmanin and hugely-talented local singer Jasmine Abela.

Jasmine – while only just 20 – is already a hugely popular artist on the island. Her highlights include being part of Ultimate Artists in London for the last three years, performing in front of the Queen as part of the CHOGM celebrations, and being part of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest twice.
She’s been singing since she was just a toddler, and says it’s ‘what keeps her feeling alive and happy’. She started to take it more seriously as she got older and, now, regularly performs professionally at top venues locally and overseas.
The Archaeology Museum on Republic Street is one of the most unusual places she has ever sung, but she is looking forward to it. “I’m really excited about spending time there,” she smiles. “It’s a gorgeous space and there’s history absolutely everywhere. It’s got a special, romantic feel to it too – so it’s ideal for Unforgettable.”
The concert itself will be quite something – with Jasmine and Nico accompanied by the Big Band Brothers, all performing songs by artists from the golden age of music. “We’ll be giving it our own twist and interpretation of course,” Jasmine says. “But these songs – by the likes of Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra – are absolute classics. It will be a joy to perform them.”
Jasmine thinks music-lovers will definitely relish the concert, while she also has other suggestions for what visitors to the island should do during their holiday here. “My perfect day starts with a jog by the sea in the early morning, followed by breakfast in Mdina and a wander round. Lunch would be in Sliema – overlooking the gorgeous Valletta skyline – and I would then do a spot of shopping. If time allowed, I would pop to the beach to relax a little in the afternoon (this time of year is perfect for that as it isn’t too busy), before heading to Valletta for dinner, and then taking in a show. Perhaps Unforgettable?”
Unforgettable – A Concert by Nico Darmanin will take place on 14, 15 and 16 February 2019 at the National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta. Tickets are available here.
