Long weekends are always a good excuse for a nice, relaxing trip to Gozo or a day at the beach and today is no exception!

Long tailbacks were first reported earlier this morning around 9am from beyond Ghadira Bay in Mellieha and traffic seems to be persisting well into the morning.

A quick look at the Skyline webcam in Cirkewwa shows a number of cars waiting to embark on the ferry, however no queues beyond that point can be seen.

The traffic, initially thought to have accumulated mainly from Gozo-bound travellers, resulted from a large amount of people heading to Ghadira Bay at the same time. Indeed, many expressed their frustration on social media and claimed they turned back due to overcrowding and lack of parking space.

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
