Thursday 8th April: a 76-year-old male is Malta's latest victim as the islands record 55 new cases

The Health Authority’s Facebook page, Sahha, has published today's figures. Malta has registered 55 new cases of COVID-19 after 2,227 swabs were done in the past 24 hours. 

The islands have registered 45 more recoveries, bringing the total recovery tally to 28,508 and the number of active cases to 554. Since the outbreak, Malta has recorded 29,463 cases and has performed 826,461 swab tests. A male aged 76 passed away at Mater Dei over the past 24 hours, bringing Malta's death toll to 401.

The post also noted that until yesterday, 7th April, 227,606 vaccine doses have been administered to various people on the islands. 63,114 of these were second doses.
