It's happening this Friday.
Fascinated with what life was like during the great wars? We’ve got the perfect event for you. Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna is organising a special night tour of the Malta at War Museum in Vittoriosa this Friday, and it's bound to be memorable!
The night tour will be held this Friday 22nd February, to begin at 7:30pm sharp, and will offer attendees the rare opportunity to visit the impressive museum and chilling air raid shelter after hours.
During the tour, a selection of original objects belonging to daily life of the Maltese during the war will be displayed and explained, bringing to light some fantastic war time curiosities. Attendees will also get the chance to view short newsreels dating back to wartime Malta.
And then things will get really cool. If you're intrigued by Malta during World War II you'll relish the opportunity to venture down into the underground shelters, parts of which are not normally accessible. It is known that little rooms within the shelters would house entire families during harsh air raid - can you imagine?
The Malta at War Museum is situated in Birgu, within the 17th-century Couvre Porte Conterguard. The museum is dedicated to Malta’s role in World War II, housing various wartime artefacts including human-size (deactivated obvs) bombs, weapons, uniforms, medals and documents, among others. The incredibly loud air raid alarm is still found within the museum’s walls.
Want to witness this spooky, yet amazing, museum by night? Book now by sending an email to [email protected]. Admission is €10 for adults and €5 for F.W.A Members and children under 16 years of age.
