These organisations are looking for a miracle this Christmas
Can you lend a helping hand?

Caroline Curmi

Christmas is all about making a difference. There are multiple organisations in Malta who spend all year working hard for a good cause and it’s the perfect time to lend a hand to facilitate their efforts and reduce anxieties.

These organisations are looking for a miracle this Christmas

If you’re unable to be physically present to help in the daily running, there are different ways to invest in voluntary organisations. Whether as a group or an individual basis, large donation or small, every bit of help counts towards a happy Christmas for this lot!

The Ursoline Creche

These nuns dedicate their entire lives to bringing up the children in their care, but to do so they need a constant stream of supplies. At the moment they require items such as baby milk, baby food, basic food products such as pasta, biscuits and preservatives and washing products.

Help feed a family this Christmas!

This organisation is more than aware of the island’s hunger issues, especially at this time of year. The effort required is minimal, simply collect as much or as little non-perishable and long life items as possible and message their Facebook page for them to pick up.

Mikel St. John

This man saves approximately 300 stray cats per year and pays for their care out of his own pockets. With everyone’s help he’s hoping to have a worry-free Christmas. Place a donation to help this very noble cause through the Facebook page Animal Protectors Malta.

Blue Door English

This school operates purely through its volunteers and this Christmas it is asking for your help. Financial donations will help this organisation provide refugees and asylum seekers with English lessons. Gift them education this year!

Foodbank Lifeline Foundation

This organisation helps feed families whose life situations do not allow them daily meals. The demand is not restricted to Christmas time, but this season they have put up a Reverse Advent Calendar to inspire more people to donate long life food products for them to redistribute amongst those in need.

ALS Malta

Founded by ALS advocate Bjorn Formosa, it has already reached its first milestone of building a home for sufferers of the moto-neuron disease. Now, they’re aiming to build a second home to accommodate more patients and with your help they can make it happen in a snap!

Hospice

If you’d like to help but are unable to make a financial contribution, you might want to consider purchasing your Christmas hampers from Hospice. The proceeds go towards the running of the organisation, a true example of hitting two birds with one stone!

Assocation for Abandoned Animals

As it’s name indicates, this organisation takes care of animals who have been abandoned by their original owners. To help out, you can make a one-time donation or even sponsor an animal for €30 a year.

Every little bit counts!
