The event

Each of the participants will be exhibiting two mechanised Catherine Wheels that will be judged by a panel of pyrotechnic experts. The winner will be chosen based on three categories: best mechanism, best products used and originality of exhibition in terms of design and movement. Basically, pizaz is key.

Floriana mayor Davina Sammut Hili says that the festival will include a new tradition as of this year. The previous year’s winner would be commissioned to close the fest with a display know as it-tapit that crosses the entire width of the granaries.
