A festival of life to bring us back to our roots.
Get your camping gear ready - it’s time for the season finale! That's right, The Bubble is back and ready to get us in tune with nature and in sync with what’s really important in life… an epic weekend living it up and enjoying the view of course!
The Bubble is known as the 'Festival of Life', and gives all those who attend a breath of fresh air; a rekindling of the senses and an improved connection with everything nature. After speaking with the organisers, I discover that their mission is, quite honestly, pretty vital for us living here in Malta. “The Bubble is more of an activist festival, and there was nothing quite like it in Malta so the gap that the festival fills is significant. There is an NGO behind the festival rather than a commercial entity, and all profits go to environmental and charitable causes,” shares Matthew Buttigieg, Vice President of The Bubble NGO.
This non-profit festival is held on the headland between Golden Bay and Riviera Bay, unleashing a surge of peace and love through all those who attend. The mission of the festival is to expose people to the beauty of sustainable living, eco-choices and ethical concerns. The week-long festival is also run on sustainable vegetarian food, where all waste is separated and all respect flourishes through the crowds. Oh, and there’s tonnes of live bands jamming out throughout the week too, of course!
The week is packed with headline acts such as ManaTapu as well as an exciting Live Jam with Peter Paul, Nik and Antoine. Apart from the vibrant music scene, The Bubble will also feature a number of workshops in the cosy Healing Area - giving visitors an insight into sustainable living. “This is like our festival university, where people are invited to sit down, relax and learn about a variety of lectures on issues ranging from plant-based eating to sustainable habits and meditation.”
The Bubble is a family-friendly festival with lots of activities for the kiddos to enjoy. All activities are configured to educate the public and to encourage them to help The Bubble NGO’s partners - non-governmental entities such as the Gaia Fooundation, Right2Smile, Depiro Batakaan Orchestra, WhyNot? and others. The Bubble gives back to help the community flourish.
The 100+ volunteers who work tirelessly before and after the festival to ensure its success pack in the positive energy and shoot it back out into the crowd in a contagious fashion. “The festival is the sum of a very large collective effort, and the sense of community among volunteers is very strong. In fact, the festival keeps on growing only because of the energy of these volunteers; it’s truly inspiring to see so many people get together and work in a selfless way, and this makes us, the organisers, work harder. The positive energy feeds on each other and it’s really such a nice atmosphere among volunteers who take some time off their daily lives to come and paint or construct something for the festival.”
The Bubble is on all week at Ghajn Tuffieha. More info here.
