Have you ever heard the legend of King Midas – the man who could turn everything he touched into gold? Inspired by this Greek myth, local artist Fabio Borg explores the themes of materialism, greed, and reflection in his latest exhibition, ‘Tactum Aureum’ (Latin for ‘The Golden Touch’). The exhibition opens this Friday 21st February at 7.30 PM at Il-Kamra ta’ Fuq in Mqabba.

The artist’s works capture the chaotic, fast-paced nature of modern life, using bold, erratic lines that resemble frantic scribbles, mirroring the tension and pressure of today’s world. These raw, expressive marks are softened with delicate pastel tones, symbolising hope and resilience amidst the chaos. But there’s more than meets the eye. Gold, the signature element of the exhibition, is woven subtly into each piece – sometimes only visible under the right light – serving as a metaphor for how greed and desire often lurk beneath layers of distraction.
Curated by Melanie Erixon, Tactum Aureum invites viewers to pause and reflect on what truly matters beyond the relentless chase for wealth and success. The exhibition runs until 9th March, offering visitors a visual journey that’s both thought-provoking and deeply personal.
Will you be there to experience the golden touch for yourself?
