If you’ve been following social media queen Tamara Webb these last few weeks, you’ll know where I’m going with this. Basically, Tamara launched her website The Balance Queen (TBQ) last month, and just last Friday, went live with her first ever product: a journal that is absolute goals. We got in touch with Tamara to discuss her new journal, the idea behind it and what the future holds for The Balance Queen.

“The idea behind the journal was that I never quite had a journal which fit my lifestyle. I’ve changed my mindset throughout these years, and I wasn’t always this organised and I wasn’t always this motivated to have a different mindset in life and to actually try and fit so many things in one day,” Tamara starts off.

“I’ve been journaling for the past years. I’ve always had a planner and a journal, but as I said, I never had one that actually fit to my lifestyle. Then obviously, since I shared everything on social media these past three to four years, I realised that so many people are like me. So many people are frustrated that they don’t manage to do what they want and they’re scared to take the risk because they think they have no time. So, this was the inspiration behind The Balance Queen, that if you really try, you can find the time.”

The Balance Queen Journal

The journal is all about planning your life, be it monthly plans, to-do lists, lifestyle goals or simply tracking your habits. Whatever it is, it will help you set goals, achieve them and have a #Balanced lifestyle. “It motivates you as well and there are inspiring quotes, tips on how to treat yourself, and that your self-care is very important to include in your planner and that if you don’t manage to do your to-do list or if you don’t manage to plan, that is ok as well. And that is where you have a balanced lifestyle,” Tamara says. “A balanced lifestyle doesn’t mean that you have to achieve everything at one go, it means that it’s a process and if you don’t, it’s ok as well as long as you try and do your best, at the end of the day.” Preach it, sister!

The long process that led to the journal

“It’s been in the works since January. I’ve had the idea since December last year, but obviously December isn’t a good time to actually work on such a project, and I started immediately in January. I started travelling to meet different manufacturers and finally chose my favourite one and started the process with Anchovy in Malta in June.”

“I knew exactly what I wanted, I knew exactly what I needed to fit in this journal, but I didn’t know where to start. So I went to Anchovy and we started designing everything together. But it’s a huge process, I mean to actually do the recipes, test out the workouts, the journal itself - I sketched the pages myself and used them for months - so it’s quite a process, apart from the whole designing the branding, website, pictures, content, sampling of the journals, sampling of each and every paper. So, it definitely was a hectic project,” she admits.

Tamara is a graduate in 3D design, so this project was right up her ally. “It brought back many memories. I used to work on projects like this at school, and finally it is something which is actually real and I never thought that it would actually come true. I actually have a product which is mine!”

Tamara also shares the moment she saw the journal in hand for the very first time. “Of course, I cried,” she says laughing, remembering the moment. “To be honest, I couldn’t believe it was in my hands. I had a lot of people who helped me throughout this process, including my husband, Anchovy, the designers - so seeing it wasn’t just a matter of being proud of myself, but proud of the whole team.”

“I was in the middle of a shoot, for TBQ in fact, and I still remember my husband came knocking to tell me it’s here. I ran to the car, opened the box, and when I saw it I was flipping the pages with my hands shaking because I was so excited and nervous. It was definitely worth the process,” she says, wanting to make sure everything was alright with the product.

The future of TBQ

With the gorgeous journal now available, we couldn’t help but ask Tamara what her plans are for TBQ. “Definitely products which have to do with keeping up with a balanced lifestyle. Recipes are definitely in the pipeline, let’s just say that, because many people are looking forward to that for sure. Simple, easy, quick and healthy recipes that you can easily do at home. Not from a chef at all - I still burn pancakes and undercook cakes, but once I test out a recipe, so far, it always did well.” You and us all, on the pancake front!

And that's not all. “Hopefully even home workouts - I have eight in the journal. I have to see how people relate to them and if they like them, I’ll definitely create more because it is something that I really think is important: to move and get yourself a little bit more active each day. I’m trying to create these workouts which you can do at home in 15 minutes and just feel better about yourself because you gave yourself some time and self-care.”

“Obviously, the journals are out, and I have to see what people think and move from there. Whatever they like, I’ll produce even more, because of course, at the end of the day, they are my inspiration,” she says.
