Malta joins Italy, Spain, and France on the CDC’s ‘dark red’ list.
As Malta hits records for new daily COVID-19 cases pretty much every day, it comes as no surprise that countries have begun advising against travel to our islands…

The latest country to do so was the United States, whose Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), added Malta to its level four ‘dark red’ list.
This means that the CDC considers Malta to have ‘very high’ levels of COVID-19.
Malta was placed on such list due to the fact that it has more than 500 virus cases per 100,000 residents.
“Avoid travel to Malta. If you must travel to Malta, make sure you are fully vaccinated before travel,” the CDC told US citizens.
“Because of the current situation in Malta, even fully vaccinated travellers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants,” it continued.

Other countries on the ‘dark red’ list include Italy, Spain, France, and Portugal. In total, over 80 countries are on said list.
The other three lists are the level three ‘red’ list, level two ‘orange’ list, and level one ‘yellow’ list. They signify high, moderate, and low COVID-19 levels respectively.
Yesterday, Malta registered a record-breaking 1,298 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country’s total number of active cases up to 7,735.
82 virus patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, five of whom are in ITU.
Stay safe!
