If you’re going to be driving around doing your Christmas shopping this Sunday, take note! Motorists are being advised to plan ahead this Sunday, 21st December, as temporary road closures and traffic diversions will be in place due to the MDINA2SPINOLA Race.

The update, released by Malta Marathon on Facebook, outlines several affected areas and timings aimed at ensuring the safe and smooth running of the event.

Drivers are being urged to avoid Spinola Bay, Balluta Seafront, and Ta’ Xbiex Seafront during the morning hours. Spinola Bay Square will be closed to traffic from 7:30am until 11:00am, while motorists are asked to avoid driving towards Spinola Bay and Balluta Bay from all directions between 8:00am and 10:00am. There will also be no access to Spinola Bay and beyond from the Regional Road, Paceville, and Sliema during this period.

Additional restrictions will apply in Ta’ Xbiex, where there will be no access to Triq ix-Xatt Ta’ Xbiex between 7:25am and 8:45am. All other roads within Ta’ Xbiex will remain unaffected.

Public transport users should also take note, as bus services passing through Balluta, Sliema, Gżira, and Ta’ Xbiex seafronts towards Valletta will be affected between 7:45am and 9:45am. Commuters are encouraged to avoid using public transport from these locations during the affected times.

Motorists and commuters are advised to allow extra travel time, follow official signage, and consider alternative routes to avoid delays.
