September showers! Heavy rain forecast on the eve of Malta’s Independence Day this week
September is notorious for delivering torrential downpours across the Maltese Islands

Francesca Vella

Yesterday marked the 21st anniversary of one of Malta’s most devastating floods, and now Maltese Islands Weather has announced the forecast for this season’s ‘first widespread and significant rainfall’, expected to arrive this Friday with some thunderstorms too!

The forecast says that the showers will begin on Thursday evening, continuing for most of Friday. The rest of the week should be fairly dry, with slight chances of rain later today and tomorrow.

Temperatures this week are expected to continue cooling the islands, a trend that began towards the end of last week. The lowest temperatures are forecasted to accompany Friday's storm, with a real feel dropping to as low as 18°C!

Are you looking forward to more storms?
