Mark your calendars for a unique evening by the sea as Heritage Malta presents the Xlendi Shipwreck Festival on the 29th and 30th of August, celebrating Gozo’s rich maritime heritage along the picturesque Xlendi waterfront.
Running from 6pm to 10pm on both nights, the festival offers a rare chance to explore some of Malta’s most fascinating underwater sites; without getting wet! Visitors will experience immersive virtual reality dives, transporting them beneath the waves to uncover the secrets of the Xlendi Underwater Archaeological Park and the remarkable Phoenician Shipwreck, one of the oldest known wrecks in the central Mediterranean.
These cutting-edge VR experiences allow you to ‘dive’ into history, coming face to face with ancient artefacts, centuries-old anchors, and sunken remains that tell the story of trade, travel, and tragedy at sea.
Set along Xlendi’s vibrant shoreline, the festival atmosphere promises to be both educational and entertaining, perfect for families, history lovers and anyone curious about Malta’s deep-sea past. With free entrance and no pre-booking required, it’s an event open to all.
Whether you're a local resident or visiting Gozo, don’t miss this opportunity to dive into the stories hidden beneath the surface.
