Scorching end to August? Malta prepares for temperatures above seasonal norms
Malta’s August could finish with some serious summer highs.

Despite last weekend’s indications, Malta’s summer isn’t cooling down just yet. Long-term weather maps indicate that the rest of August will see maximum temperatures above the seasonal average of 31.7°C, with some areas potentially reaching 35°C to 36°C as the month draws to a close.

With temperatures trending higher than usual, it’s important to stay cool and hydrated while enjoying Malta’s summer. Whether you’re lounging by the beach, exploring historic towns, or attending a village festa, taking precautions against the heat is key.

Here are some tips to beat the heat:

  • Hydrate constantly – water, fruit, and light snacks are essential.
  • Seek shade during peak hours – typically between 12 PM and 4 PM.
  • Dress light and breathable – cotton and linen are your best friends!
  • Plan outdoor activities for mornings or evenings – the sun is gentler outside peak hours, although you’ll still want to wear sunblock.

As the month continues, make the most of the season, but remember to enjoy it safely!

Are you planning a late summer trip to escape the heat?
