Malta and Gozo are about to be treated to a series of extraordinary choral concerts, as The Renaissance Choir, a celebrated 20-voice ensemble from the UK, lands on our shores with their ‘Beata Maria’ Tour.

Led by conductor Peter Gambie, this highly acclaimed choir is known for its exquisite performances of sacred music, with a repertoire spanning from the Renaissance era (hence the name) to modern-day masterpieces. Their mission is to keep music meaningful and accessible, and this tour promises just that – with all events free to attend.

Their first performance on the islands will take place on Sunday 25th May at 8:15 PM at St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta, allowing those present to experience sacred choral music in one of Malta’s most iconic venues. A cappella harmonies will fill the hallowed halls in a spiritually uplifting event not to be missed.

Monday 26th May brings the second concert, this time across the Grand Harbour at the Dominican Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Birgu, at 5 PM.

On Tuesday 27th May, the tour will travel to Gozo, bringing choral sounds to the Cathedral of the Assumption in Victoria at 7:15 PM. Thursday 29th May will see the final performance taking place at the Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary, in Żebbuġ (Gozo), at 7 PM. Expect a soul-stirring evening that includes Holy Mass, followed by a short recital featuring sacred works by Palestrina, Poulenc, Rachmaninov, Busto, and more.

Founded in 1976, The Renaissance Choir has earned a strong reputation in the UK for its refined sound and thoughtful programming. The ensemble has performed in prestigious venues including Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and St Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Their performances are powerful in both technical precision and emotive depth, bringing centuries-old music vividly to life.

Whether you're a lover of sacred music or a fan of Renaissance compositions, this is a rare opportunity to hear an internationally respected choir for free in some of Malta and Gozo’s most beautiful churches.

Don’t miss it!
