Every year, locals and visitors alike flock to Malta’s capital to ring in the new year, and this year is no exception. Following a successful year of Valletta's tenure as Europe’s Capital of Culture, with over 350 events held around the islands, the participation of around 2,000 artists and the attendance of about 350,000 people, it’s now time to end things in style, with the annual NYE celebrations in Valletta!

Details of the event have just been announced by Valletta 2018: “St George’s Square will once again host the main stage and will see the very best of Malta’s local artists. The night will kickstart with local band Xarulù, followed by one of Malta’s biggest artists, Ira Losco. Ira Losco will be accompanied by her band and will be performing the vert best songs from her repertoire, which include her chart-topping singles, What I’d Give, Me Luv U Long Time, and her recent single One in a Million.”

St George’s Square will once again host thousands of locals and visitors keen on celebrating the New Year together. Following Ira Losco’s performance, DJ Pierre Cordina will take to the stage for “an energetic countdown”, playing the best songs of 2018. DJ Mykill will close off the night accompanied by a live trumpet act – and we all know how much us Maltese love a good trumpet performance!

And how can we forget the fireworks? Displays and special effects will also be part of the celebrations, creating an unforgettable and magical atmosphere. Only positive vibes for the new year!
