On the eve of Valentine’s Day, Heritage Malta and Taste History are taking people back in time in a special event
Have you ever wondered what Maltese weddings looked and tasted like 100 years ago?
On the eve of Valentine’s Day, Heritage Malta and Taste History are taking people back in time for an experience that promises to fuse history, love and passion for food and literature.
In an event at the Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu, guests will get to explore how food and drink traditionally served at Maltese weddings evolved over time.
Guests will be guided through a selected literary excerpts and a treasure trove of primary sources, including an original £8 receipt from the wedding of the daughter of a Maltese lawyer back in 1933.
They will then get to taste a curated selection of food and drinks inspired by early 20th-century weddings – flavours that evoke stories and traditions passed down through generations.
The event will be conducted in Maltese, with the support of the Department of Maltese at the University of Malta It will take place on 13th February at 7pm and tickets can be purchased here for €50.
