Ready, set, swim: New ladders installed at Sliema beaches
What’s your favourite Sliema swimming spot?

Cooling off in Sliema has just gotten way easier.

Earlier today, the town’s local council took to social media to announce that ladders have been fixed across its beaches.

This was done in collaboration with the Tourism Zones Foundation and the Malta Tourism Authority.

Images posted on Facebook show workers fixing a set of ladders at what looks to be Fond Ghadir.

The initiative seems to have gone down well with Sliema residents, with the local council’s post getting well over 200 reactions in a couple of hours.

Unfortunately, earlier today authorities warned bathers against swimming at Fond Ghadir after a sewage overflow was found to be affecting water quality.

A similar incident took place last week when sewage overflowed at Qui Si Sana – another Sliema beach.

Officials from the Environmental Health Directorate are investigating these issues.
