ITB Berlin is the world’s largest tourism trade fair. The Best of Culture and Communities prize was awarded to our island by Green Destinations, an international organisation promoting sustainable tourism. The award recognises “global leadership in protecting culture and tradition, involving local communities, and avoiding over tourism.” Various events were organised over the last months, such as a Christmas series, Valentines series, concerts, art exhibitions, and drive-in cinemas among others. We can only imagine what the little isle has got in store next!

The Minister for Gozo, Justyne Caruana, welcomed the international honour for the island. She added that this fantastic result was only possible because of the hard work that everyone put in to showcase Gozo’s cultural events all year round.
