Friday 1st March
Friday 1st is the official beginning of this year's carnival celebrations. Carnival in Valletta kicks off with competitive dancing followed by a parade featuring the star of the show - King Carnival - as well as vibrant floats and participants wearing grotesque masks. Meanwhile, a more eerie parade and celebration begins after sunset in Nadur, Gozo.
If you are looking to head to a party on Friday night, there is Ziggy’s Carnival Freak Show at Ku Club, Carl Bee Presents: Black Carnival at La Grotta and Topnotch, the Carnival Circus at Gianpula.

Saturday 2nd March
On the second day of carnival, in Valletta, satirical floats join the parade. You can also expect to see more competitive dancing, triumphal floats, and company floats. Celebrations continue in Nadur, with a number of guest DJs bringing the night alive with music.
Parties in Gozo include a Carnival Matinee at La Grotta on Saturday afternoon, the annual Strictly RnB party at KU club, and Junior B at the Dark Arena in Gozo.
The Carnival Xpress boat party, between Malta and Gozo, could be an original way to get from one island to the next.
A Grease to the Black Eyed Peas Carnival party will also be taking place in Gianpula, Malta.
Sunday 3rd March
King Carnival makes a reappearance in Valletta on Sunday, along with other floats. You can expect a continuation of celebrations in Nadur, along with whacky celebrations in the southern Maltese town of Ghaxaq during their spontaneous carnival, which begins on the 3rd.
On Sunday the 3rd of March a Carnival run is also being organised in Ghaxaq at 10am.

Monday 4th March
Festivities continue in Ghaxaq and Nadur.
Tuesday 5th March
The final day of Carnival in Valletta sees a parade of floats and dances, accompanied by King Carnival. You can still head out to Ghaxaq and Nadur for a slightly different take on the carnival celebrations as the festivities draw to an end.
