Nadur man breaks national record with Halloween-decorated façade

It’s safe to say that Halloween fever has fully taken over the Maltese islands.

Just yesterday, Facebook page The Malta Records revealed that a certain Jean Paul Portelli from Nadur broke a national record after decorating his house’s façade with hundreds upon hundreds of Halloween-related ornaments.

“Tonight, The Malta Records crossed the channel to get to Nadur, Gozo, where Mr Jean Paul Portelli broke his own record, set last year, for the biggest residential façade decoration for Halloween,” the page wrote.

A lot went into decorating Jean Paul’s façade – specifically, 542 pumpkins, 92 scarecrows, and even an in-costume dog!

The decorations looked even better at night, when they were lit up by countless string lights, hung up all over the façade.

Decorating one’s house for a special occasion seems to be a relatively common occurrence on the sister island. Just last June, a family from Xewkija broke another national record after decorating their house’s façade with a whopping 1,558 light bulbs.

This was done to mark the village feast of St John the Baptist, celebrated annually in Xewkija.

Did you decorate your house for Halloween?
