Getting to and from Mellieha has just gotten easier.

The town’s local council announced that Triq il-Mellieha in Manikata is once again open to traffic, with works in the area concluding yesterday afternoon.

The works, involving a new water distribution system in the area, were being undertaken by the Water Services Corporation.

The Mellieha Local Council went on to reveal that Mizieb Road is now also “taking traffic in both directions”.

Dozens of readers took to the post’s comments section to celebrate Triq il-Mellieha’s re-opening – an unsurprising reaction considering the congestion caused by said closure.

Having said that, Haz-Zebbug councillor Steve Zammit Lupi urged the authorities to apply the proper road markings to the road in a bid to avoid traffic accidents.
