Malta’s National Museum of Natural History opening photographic exhibition celebrating its 50-year history in Mdina
The Museum of Natural History opened in Palazzo Vilhena in 1973.
In order to commemorate their 50-year history at Palazzo Vilhena in Mdina, the National Museum of Natural History are inviting the public to meander along the engrossing story of the museum through a series of black and white photographs exhibition.
The exhibition opens tomorrow, 24th June 2023 and will be open till the 30th December 2023.
A total of 50 images will be showcased in honour of the 50 years of this important milestone.
The photographs depict the main events that have shaped the museum’s fascinating story and its intriguing, ever-growing collections, which stimulate the minds of children and scholars alike.
The exhibition – The National Museum of Natural History: 50 Years in Mdina, A Photographic Journey – complements a photographic book with the same title, compiled by John J. Borg, the museum’s Senior Curator, and launched on the occasion of the anniversary.
Each photo will take you back down memory lane, from 1973, when the museum was officially opened to the public, on to the highs and lows of the subsequent years, right up to the present day, which sees the museum boasting a collection of tens of thousands of specimens ranging from shells to birds, mammals, fish and reptiles.
The exhibition opens every Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm with tickets costing €5 for adults and €3.50 for children and seniors.
