Malta’s ancient past! Experience a special tour on Marsaxlokk Day at Tas-Silg this September

Experience Malta’s rich history firsthand by visiting the Tas-Silg Archaeological Complex, an extraordinary site that will open to the public for a special event on Sunday, 22nd September 2024, as part of the Marsaxlokk Day celebrations.
The Tas-Silg site is a treasure trove of historical significance, with layers of remains spanning thousands of years. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore this fascinating location, which features remains from the Neolithic period, including a Punic-Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Astarte.
The site also boasts impressive Byzantine and early Christian structures, making it a rare blend of Malta’s diverse historical influences.
This event, organised by Heritage Malta, offers a unique chance to witness ongoing archaeological work, as Tas-Silg is usually closed to the public. Tours will be available in both Maltese and English, with Maltese tours scheduled for 9:30 am and 11:30 am, and English tours at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm.
Participants will have the rare opportunity to explore the rich cultural and religious significance of this historical landmark, all while learning about the site’s ongoing excavations. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended due to the terrain, ensuring visitors can fully enjoy their journey through time.
