Health Minister Chris Fearne took to social media to make one very encouraging announcement today…
Turns out that, not only is Malta the most vaccine-boosted country in all of Europe, but it’s also the European country with the lowest COVID-19 hospitalisation rate!
Graphs published by ‘Our World In Data’ show that over 53% of Malta’s population has received its COVID-19 vaccine booster, placing it ahead of every other European country, the United States, as well as the global average.
Data also shows that Malta’s amongst the countries with the lowest rate of COVID-19 patient hospitalisations, surpassing the UK, the US, and Switzerland, to name a few.
The country with the lowest rate of hospitalised COVID-19 patients around the world is Japan, with a mere 18 virus patients every one million receiving care in hospital.
On the other hand, Bulgaria currently stands as the country with the most COVID-19-induced hospitalisations. As of 2nd January, just under 600 virus patients from every one million were being cared for in hospital.
Bulgaria also happens to have a worryingly low percentage of its population boosted. As of today, a mere 5.56% of its population has received the COVID-19 booster.
What do you make of these numbers?
