From today, 1st July, travellers from the EU can now freely enter Malta upon the presentation of the digital certificate as proof that they’re fully vaccinated.

Health Minister Chris Fearne confirmed this, also urging fully vaccinated locals to download their certificate from certifikatvaccin.gov.mt. “Today Malta goes live with the EU Vaccine Certficate,” he notes.

If you’ve already downloaded your Maltese certificate, all you need to do is hit the ‘Re-Print’ button and two pages will be added to your document. The digital certificate certifies whether a person is vaccinated, has recovered from the virus or has had a recent negative test.

The certificate also comes with a QR code and a digital identifier unique to the document. Your certificate can either be downloaded and saved to your phone or printed.

The digital vaccine passport is recognised in all 27 EU member states together with Iceland, Switzerland, Norway and Liechtenstein. The EU is reportedly in talks with other countries such as the UK and the US for mutual recognition of COVID documents.
