Looks familiar? Old shots of this iconic cafe will take you on a trip down memory lane
A favourite haunt of many!

Caffe Cordina is one of Valletta's most famous haunts. Famed for their delectable handmade sweets and pies, it has beaten the generational divide and is frequented by locals and tourists of all ages.

Founded in Bormla in 1837, Caffe Cordina relocated to Valletta in 1944. It was a big change for the owners, going from humble beginnings to operating from a historic palazzo (dating back to the time of the Knights of St John) in Malta's capital city, but the risk was worth the rewards.

Back in the day, schoolchildren would swarm in after school to purchase a delicious treat, such as the pair pictured in the photograph below. Today, youngsters crowd the counter for another reason - Caffe Cordina's homemade ice-cream.

What do you remember of Caffe Cordina in the good ol' days?

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
