Esplora Interactive Science Centre has opened its doors to 'Journey to Space', an event whereby the science centre has been transformed into a hub for all things extra-terrestrial: satellites, astronauts, lunar rovers, space shuttles and so much more.

The event is taking place now and will last till the 16^{th of} April. It will be open from 10am till 5pm.

This activity is aimed at continuing to promote Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, more commonly known as STEM education. 

This event will also help in bridging the gap between science and society, whereby visitors will be able to engage in interactive exhibits as well as meet and interact with a number of local space science researchers.

“Our aim is to create a lasting positive memory for families who visit the science centre whilst exposing them to the world of space sciences and encouraging their interests in this field of STEM”, the Chairman of the Malta Council for Science and Technology Dr Tonio Portughese stated.

A total of four exciting science shows and workshops are being organised:

1. Take Off!  Explore the science of flight and discover how scientists successfully travel to space in this interactive science show.
2. Lunar Mission 1.0– Code the lunar rover as you use your mathematical skills to complete a set of tasks in preparation for humans to go back to the moon.
3. 3, 2, 1… Lift Off!– Build your very own air powered rocket and put it to the test in this hands-on workshop.
4. Planet Bootcamp– This is the perfect chance to explore the fantastic features of our solar system like Venus’s violent volcanoes and Saturn’s rocky rings!

The Esplora Planetarium will however be the main attraction that you simply cannot miss. It will be open to everyone and not simply to Planetarium Ticket Holder.  Plenty of Planetarium Films and Live Shows to choose from will be displayed. The full schedule can be found here.
