As Malta’s unusually long summer starts to wrap up, the islands have started welcoming their first showers of the month.

Autumn is set to officially commence tomorrow, 23rd September, although given the thick clouds covering our skies today, it seems like Mother Nature couldn’t wait much longer.

Many localities across the islands have already reported showers. These include Qormi, Marsaskala, Birkirkara, Mriehel, Kirkop, San Gwann, Zurrieq, Rabat, and Victoria (Gozo).

“The first showers of the day have reached certain places. The rain is still light, but should intensify as the day progresses,” Facebook page Maltese Islands Weather reported.

Earlier this week, this page had predicted isolated thunderstorms for today and tomorrow.

Maltese Islands Weather had also forecasted Force Six winds for the end of this week.

Temperatures are set to remain relatively low as the week progresses, with the Malta International Airport’s seven-day forecast predicting lows of 20°C every day until Saturday 24th September.
