An orange heat warning has been issued by the Meteorological Office, with temperatures expected to feel as high as 42°C today.

Malta is bracing for another spell of intense heat, with today’s maximum air temperature forecast to reach around 41°C. The combination of high temperatures and humidity will make conditions feel even hotter, increasing the strain on the body.

The hot weather is expected to persist throughout the coming days, with temperatures continuing to feel above 40°C until Tuesday of next week.

An orange heat warning is also expected to remain in place through Monday, highlighting the prolonged nature of the heatwave and the need for residents and visitors to take precautions.

People are being urged to stay well hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day. Extra care should also be taken when checking on young children, older people and anyone who may be more vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat.

With several more days of exceptionally hot conditions ahead, residents are encouraged to remain cautious and follow official weather and health advice as the heat continues.
