Mary achieved incredible success as a playboy model.
Malta has just lost one of its most successful 20th century models – the legendary Mary Collinson.
If you’re not familiar with this name, back in 1969, Mary and her twin sister, Madelaine, moved away from their Sliema home to seek better opportunities in England – all at the tender age of 16
The two ended up making a name for themselves overseas and ended up scoring prominent modelling and acting roles.
Mary and Madelaine even went on to make history after becoming the first-ever set of twins to grace the title of ‘Playmate of the Month’, back in October 1970.
But that wasn’t all…
The twins starred in some highly-successful 70s films – we’re talking ‘Some Like it Sexy’, ‘Permissive’, ‘Groupie Girl’, ‘She’ll Follow You Anywhere’, and ‘Love Machine’.
Their most successful feature was probably horror flick ‘Twins of Evil’, which saw them starring alongside A-list horror actor Peter Cushing.
Reeling in from her rollercoaster of a career, Mary went on to have two daughters and live the rest of her days surrounded by her loved ones in Milan.
She passed away on 23rd November, aged 69, after suffering from bronchopneumonia.
Natasha Manfredini, Mary’s daughter, took to social media to pen a touching tribute to her.
“I will miss you so much. Now you’re not in pain anymore and I’m sure you’re with Aunt Maddie,” she wrote.
Our deepest condolences go out to Mary’s family!
