Heading to Sicily? Air Malta flights to and from Catania delayed due to Etna eruption
The delays concern today and tomorrow’s flights.
Catania Airport in Sicily faced a temporary closure this morning due to a volcanic eruption from Mount Etna. Several Air Malta flights are now delayed due to the dispersal of volcanic ash caused by the eruption.
These are all the Air Malta flights delayed between today and tomorrow:
14th August
- KM640 Malta to Catania rescheduled for departure at 21:40 pm.
- KM641 Catania to Malta rescheduled for departure at 23:05 pm.
- KM644 Malta to Catania rescheduled for departure at 23:20 pm.
15th August
- KM645 Catania to Malta rescheduled for departure at 00:50 am.
Flights KM642 Malta to Catania and KM643 Catania to Malta were set to operate as originally planned.
This marks the second time this summer that the airport had to halt activities unexpectedly. In July, a fire prompted a similar shutdown.
