Heads up! Catania airport cancels several flights to and from Malta due to last night’s fire
Suspended operations will persist until Wednesday 19th July.

This morning we woke up to the shocking news that a fire broke out at Catania Airport. In turn, this has suspended operations at the airport until Wednesday 19th July. This means that several Malta flights have been cancelled for the duration.

The following Air Malta flights have been cancelled:

  • 17.07.2023 – KM644/5
  • 17.07.2023 – KM642/3
  • 18.07.2023 – KM640/1
  • 18.07.2023 – KM644/5
  • 18.07.2023 – KM642/3
  • 19.07.2023 – KM640/1

The fire broke out inside the airport on the evening of Sunday 16th July and, according to reports, it was extinguished with no serious injuries reported.

This incident comes after a disruption caused in Italy’s airports due to a nationwide strike which caused a number of delayed flights on Saturday 15th July.
