It’s safe to say that Malta had an excellent run at this year’s Special Olympics.

Following the games’ conclusion yesterday evening, it was announced that Maltese athletes took home an incredible 192 medals throughout four days of events.

The haul includes 65 gold medals, 60 silver medals, and 67 bronze medals.

17 of the gold medals were collected in swimming, 16 in athletics and bocce, 14 in bowling, one in table tennis, and one in football.

This year’s edition of the Special Olympics was the first in almost two-and-a-half years and brought together almost 1,000 athletes from 23 countries.

Six different types of sporting events were played at the games - football, athletics, swimming, bowling, bocce, and table tennis. These were hosted by the Marsa Sports Complex, the National Pool Complex, Eden Super Bowl, and the University of Malta Sports Complex.

Well done, guys!
