From Beethoven to contemporary art: Il-Ħaġar set to host a weekend of culture in Gozo
Art and music lovers in Gozo are in for a culturally rich weekend as Il-Ħaġar Museum hosts two engaging free events blending classical music and contemporary art.
The first event, taking place on Friday 17th April at 7:30pm, marks the beginning of a special lecture-recital series commemorating the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death. Led by Francis Camilleri, the series will explore Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas over the next two years.
Hosted at the Aula Mgr Giuseppe Farrugia, behind St George’s Basilica, the opening session will introduce audiences to the composer’s evolving style, from his early works to his later, more introspective compositions.
On Saturday 18th April at 11:00am, visitors can attend a guided walkthrough of the “Harmony in Contrast” exhibition at Il-Ħaġar. Led by artists Valerio Schembri and Paul Stellini, the exhibition explores themes such as light and shadow, tradition and modernity.
Both events are free, though registration is recommended.
