Maltese tennis superstar, Francesca Curmi has just beat Oceane Dodin, a French tennis player who currently ranks at 109 and who once achieved a 46-rank high.

“That is a huge victory, even more so when you consider that Dodin beat the likes of Konta, Erani, Lisicki, Petkovic, Jankovic and gave Halep and Venus Williams quite a few headaches”, her father proudly wrote on Facebook.

During this year’s W80 tournament in Madrid, Francesca managed to move on to the second round after beating Sinja Kraus from Austria.

Shen then went to play one of France’s best players, Oceane Dodin who has 12 single titles. Nonetheless, Francesca was crowned victorious.

As a result of this win, Francesca went against one of Poland’s best, Magdalena Frech who holds six single titles and four doubles titles. Even though Francesca lost she still managed to put up a good fight and didn’t give an easy win to the Polish player.

Spain’s Aliona Bolsova was the one who was crowned the winner of the tournament.

What an incredible achievement!i
