Chris and his wife, Moira, had represented Malta at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest.
Chris Scicluna, former Eurovision representative for Malta and one-half of musical duo ‘Chris and Moira’ has sadly passed away.
His wife and collaborator, Moira Stafrace, broke the news on social media.
“With a shattered and broken heart we say goodbye to my beloved husband, Chris, father to our daughter Michela, best friend, music mentor, travelling buddy, my shadow for the past 27 years,” she wrote.
“Thank you for the beautiful life we shared. A full life of love, amazing passion for music. We shared a lot of wonderful experiences together as music lovers and as husband and wife. I love you, Chris. Fly high my hubby. Hope you’re rocking up there. You are now with your dad, mummy and papa,” Moira continued.
Hundreds of shocked readers took to the post’s comments section to pay tribute to the late singer and offer their condolences to Moira.
“Rest in peace, Chris. Such sad news this morning,” well-known musician Pawlu Borg Bonaci wrote.
“A heart of gold lives in eternity. A voice of gold helps others live in eternity. He was a gentleman. An artist. A great man. His legacy will through,” YADA Dance Company Founder Felix Busuttil added.
Born in 1959, Chris started his studies in music at the ripe age of eight, and went on to spend most of his 20s freelancing in the United Kingdom. This was only the start of a lengthy and successful career in the music industry.

Chris and Moira are best known for representing Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1994, after winning the Malta’s Song for Europe competition with their song ‘More Than Love’.
The two ranked 5th overall with 97 points – one of the best results Malta has managed to achieve.
Five years later, in 1999, Chris and Moira returned to the Eurovision after writing ‘Believe ‘n Peace’ for local girl-band Times Three. The couple was also present on stage as the group’s backing vocalists.
Rest in peace, Chris!
