Festa lovers rejoice! Il-Festa tal-Festi will kickstart the celebrations earlier than usual
It’s all happening from the 28th to the 30th of April.
We’ve all heard of the traditional local festa celebration. Well, there’s something NEW launching at the end of April which will take these celebrations to the next level. Il-Festa tal-Festi, in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund, will be a celebration of all things Maltese Festa related showcasing the richness and diversity of these traditions.
This weekend event, happening at the Verdala Palace Gardens will take place from Friday 28th April to Sunday 30th April. Il-Festa tal-Festi aims to bring locals and tourists together to experience and appreciate the unique Maltese culture and festas. It is also a way to educate kids on the tradition of Maltese festas. The event will focus on activities such as traditional feast installations, bands, educational workshops, yummy food, and much more!
It all kicks off on Friday with ‘L-Ikla tal-Festi', a traditional Maltese festa meal in the magnificent Verdala Palace. Indulging in the authentic taste of traditional Maltese food will not be the only highlight of the evening. Local comedians Rodney Gauci, Pawlu Borg Bonaci, Mario Cassar, Mary Rose Mallia, and Megan May Caruana will provide the entertainment for the night; an evening of laughter not to be missed!
And, what’s a festa celebration full of life and colour without local band sensation, The Travellers?! Saturday’s event will end with a concert by this renowned Maltese band and the Verdala Palace will be transformed into an arena filled with the traditional sounds of Maltese band music. This impeccable night will be your opportunity to witness a variety of exhibitions, street decorations, educational programmes, and so much more!
Now comes the peak of the event, ‘Jum il-Festa'. As with all traditional feasts, celebrations will start off with a mass at 10:00 am, and afterwards, various bands will unite together for a morning march all over Malta.
