With its clean, warm waters and wealth of fantastic underwater sites, it’s no surprise that Malta is considered one of the best places in the world to explore the wonders of the deep! But, if you’ve never been diving or need to brush up on your skills before descending into the depths, these five diving schools will sort you out!

One of the islands’ longest established diving centres, Dive Systems have been revelling in the wonders of the deep for more than 40 years, bringing a wealth of experience with them. With an emphasis on “safety while having a great time”, they cater for small to large groups, and offer everything from introductory to furthering education courses, PADI specialities, Go Pro courses, accompanied dives and Tec courses, as well as Tec accompanied dives.

Another great diving centre with two bases at the north of the islands: one at the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa in Golden Bay and the other at Ramla Bay Resort, OrangeShark is a 5-Star PADI Instructor Development Resort that offers training from entry level to professional courses, including all specialty and technical courses, all year round. The dives organised by this school are planned based on the experience of the divers, with a focus on maximum attention, safety and quality.

This scuba and snorkelling centre is set in a prime location within the beautiful Mellieha Bay, on the north coast of Malta, and offers a variety of PADI courses, guided dives, and if you’re still working your way up to diving proper – snorkelling tours! A Maltese team with local expertise, this diving centre arranges bespoke packages including accommodation, guided dives at beautiful dive sites in Malta, Gozo and Comino, as well as airport transfers.

Head over to the sister island of Gozo for Atlantis, a family-run diver centre first established in 1993. Striving to achieve the highest dive standards, this diving school is one of just two on the Maltese Islands with full EUF accreditation, and are known among their returning customers as “one of the friendliest dive centres”! And if you’re keen to learn, they offer everything from basic diving courses to technical mixed-gas diving.
