As the weather starts to get warmer and spring stretches from its slumber, the islands start to come alive with outdoor activities once again, making the most of the glorious Mediterranean clime. Carnival may have welcomed these festivities in, but this weekend, the Citadel’s Festival of Lights in Gozo will put a more picturesque spin on a history stretching back centuries.
Walk the streets of the medieval Citadel after the sun has set this Saturday evening, for the town is set to sparkle and shine with the light of over 30,000 candles. Historic re-enactments and live entertainment, including shows for the little ones, will keep you and your family entertained, while museums and other places of interest are throwing their doors open until late.
But before you’ve had your fill of the narrow limestone streets and quaint corners, head up to the fortifications and experience the island in all its bucolic, sunset glory.
