The George Fenech Art Museum and Gallery in Mellieħa will be holding an open weekend on Saturday 25th May between 10am and 8pm, and on Sunday 26th May between 10am and 6pm. Led by the vision and dedication of the Fenech family, the museum will be welcoming art enthusiasts and the local community to join in on the artistic experience.

This building stands as a testament to the relentless dedication of the family of the late artist George Fenech (1926 – 2011), who spared no effort in its creation. It serves as a vibrant tribute to the enduring legacy of the artist, showcasing a diverse collection of artworks that traverse the spectrum of Fenech's artistic journey over the decades. With over 100 permanent artworks on display, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in Fenech's evolution as an artist, promising an enriching experience for both ardent art enthusiasts and casual observers alike.

The exhibits guide visitors through George Fenech's artistic journey, starting from his early days at the Malta Government School of Art in Valletta, then continuing to the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome, and finally, his return to Malta to establish his own studio. Visitors can also tour Fenech's roles as both a family man and an art teacher, examining how these aspects influenced his artistic growth through the various paintings. The Museum also showcases a wide range of genres that Fenech painted, including still-life’s, portraits, landscapes, group compositions, folklore, religious themes, and his work in printing and stamp design across various mediums. As part of the experience, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a recreation of the artist's studio, complete with original items, providing a glimpse into Fenech's environment.
