The stage production of “MY FAIR LADY” has been and is still being played in some of the best theatres in the UK and around the world. Now this year, thanks to the license and the relevant permits from Music Theatre International of London, as well as with the financial support of the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme (VOPS) managed by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector, this same musical will be staged live in English on the stage of the Don Bosco Oratory Theatre in Gozo.
“MY FAIR LADY” is a 2.5 hour production of good music, catchy songs and witty moments. Its best loved popular songs include: “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly”, “With A Little Bit of Luck”, “The Rain in Spain”, “I Could Have Danced All Night”, “Get Me To The Church On Time” as well as “On the Street Where You Live”, together with lots of other lovely evergreen songs. The best gozitan talent will be showcased in this musical together with special guest artists from Malta. The young budding performing arts local sensation Clara Sciberras will play the leading role of Eliza. Other main parts will be played by Tyrone Grima, George Camilleri, Joseph Pavia, Nicolas De Grandis and Maria Cassar, together with a 70-strong cast, including musicians and singers. Antonella Rapa is the vocal director, whilst Mro. Mark Gauci is entrusted with the musical direction of “MY FAIR LADY”. Jamie Camilleri is the artistic director of the show, the choreography is in the hands of Frances Zammit, whilst the wardrobe mistress is Marisa Teuma helped with her collaborators. It is to be noted that many costumes are being broght over from London to be purposely used for this musical. The stage-set, once again, has been left under the supervision of artist Dennis Mompalao, helped with local budding scemographer Paul Cassar and other volunteers from the Don Bosco Oratory.
