On the 80th Anniversary of the inclusion of Malta in the Second World War, and on the 75th anniversary of the end of the same war, Heritage Malta will be organising a WWII harbour tour.
The Grand Harbour was the main target of the Axis' aerial bombings and between 1940 and 1942 witnessed some of the most ferocious attacks in history, including the famous HMS Illustrious attack. This conflict brought ever lasting change to the configuration of the Grand Harbour, and it not only resulted in the destruction of much of the towns and villages around it but also considerable loss of life.
